About the choir
City Voices is a 70-strong mixed choir of 4-part voices.
We were formed in 2011, and we perform in a variety of venues in and around Bristol, and sometimes further afield – even abroad!
You don’t need to audition to join us – City Voices believes that singing is for everyone. A community choir should be all about meeting new people and having fun – and if you have a voice, then you can sing! New members are welcomed and encouraged to get to know their voice group and other choir members.
Rehearsals take place every Monday night from 7.15pm to 9.15pm at Redmaids’ High School in Westbury-on-Trym.
We perform music from a wide variety of genres, from pop songs and musical theatre classics to Rutter and Mozart. Our repertoire offers a good challenge to both accomplished singers and beginners. We try to sing off copy for some of our repertoire – and we have been known to sing in Italian, Croatian, Welsh and even Icelandic (with phonetics, as needed)!
We hold a Summer concert in June, usually at All Saint’s Clifton, and a Christmas concert in December, usually at St George’s Bristol, which has superb acoustics and a fabulous atmosphere, making it an absolute treat to sing there.
The choir has an active and engaged committee, who help with guiding the direction of the choir alongside the Musical team.
Each year, we choose a charity to support, and have collection buckets at our concerts.
Our charity for 2025 is Great Western Air Ambulance Charity.
In 2023, we raised more than £1,300 for Bristol Northwest Foodbank, and in 2024, we donated a similar amount to The Brightwell, a centre for neurological wellbeing and physical recovery in Bradley Stoke, Bristol.
